Ploid acquires Ploid.com

Today, we're proud to announce that Ploid has officially acquired Ploid.com. It took three months, a $50,000 valuation on the domain, and the steadfast support of our investors and advisors to get here — but it's done, and it's ours.

This is more than a URL. It's a declaration that Ploid is here to stay.

What's in a name

We get asked about the name a lot. What does Ploid mean? The honest answer is that Ploid is our reimagination of the word employed. Strip it back, compress it, make it feel like something new — and you get Ploid. It's employment, rebuilt from the ground up with AI at the center.

That's exactly what we're doing with the product. Hiring as it exists today is fragmented, slow, and deeply manual. We're reimagining what it looks like when AI handles the heavy lifting — sourcing, screening, scheduling, offers — so that the people doing the hiring can focus on the part that actually matters: finding the right person.

The name carries that intent. And now, so does the domain.

Three months of negotiations

Acquiring a premium domain at the earliest stage of a company is rarely a straight line. We first reached out to the previous owner of Ploid.com shortly after incorporating. The initial response was encouraging but the path to a deal was anything but quick.

Over the course of three months, we went back and forth on pricing, terms, and timing. The domain was valued at $50,000 — a significant number for a pre-revenue startup. There were moments we weren't sure it would happen. But we kept at it, and eventually the pieces came together.

We closed the deal, transferred the domain, and pointed it to our product. Simple in the end, but hard-earned.
